About

The Blogger

Asiya is a student/intern who spends most of her time studying, writing, pretending to do housework, cooking, and eating.  When she gets down to work, Asiya writes for this blog and other publications, interns at a publishing company, all while pursuing a marketing degree.  Asiya likes jewellery, pearls, flower-patterned fabrics, pretty paper, a lot of television, sunny days, sandwiches, lattes at starbucks, day-dreaming and people-watching. She does not like being indoors for more than 24 hours, doing the dishes or shopping.  One day, Asiya hopes to run a bridal boutique or an invitation printing studio, so that she can be surrounded by pretty things all day.  Until then, she’ll settle for chronicling her ideas via this blog.

The Blog

“Aaina (Aaye-naa)” is the hindi/urdu/gujurati/indian word for mirror, and the name of my bridal beauty blog. In the world of beauty, weddings are the manifestation of each bride’s artistic ability and sense of style. Her choice of outfit, her makeup, her jewellery, her shoes, every last detail, are the result of careful thought with the aim of achieving the best possible reflection of her inner beauty.

While there are thousands of wedding blogs, there is relatively little in terms of quality content aimed at the South Asian bride.  This blog aims to curate ideas and information to inspire and inform her.  The unique fashions, beauty ideals and traditions associated with our culture are being brought together with European and North American cultures in a new fusion that is distinctive to the modern South Asian Bride.  Our readers are trendy, well-informed, highly educated, judicious with their money and are looking for a look that makes a statement.

Submissions

We accept submissions from photographers, brides, make-up artists, grooms…whoever, as long as it’s with the bride’s approval.  If you have already submitted the pictures somewhere else, let us know.  Actually, it’s probably better if you did, we are hoping our readers can check out the rest of the wedding somewhere else, and we can concentrate on the bride’s look.

If you are a writer with an article, or a reader with a question, please feel free to e-mail Asiya, her e-mail address is in the sidebar. Letters may be edited for clarity.
