Love-ly Locks: The Changing Hairstyle for Desi Brides and New Dupatta Fabrics

Friday, September 28, 2012 | |
Just a quick post on an observation I made while perusing through my tumblr (which I haven't updated in a while, sorry tumblr friends!  I'll get to it soon, I promise).  I found this picture via Shaadi Fever, and I love the colours of the bride's dupatta and the zari beads at the end, but what I noticed was the transparency and lightness of the dupatta.  About ten years ago, when dupattas were made of heavier fabrics, you usually just needed a stiff bun underneath to support the weight, because the hair wouldn't show through anyway.  But as the bridal dupatta gets lighter, in materials like tulle and chiffon, the hair shows through, and brides can get away with lighter, less tight hairstyles And also pretty details like curls and braids and texture can be added, since they will show through very prettily.

via Shaadi Fever Tumblr, source and photographer unknown (if you do
know, please share!), also how sweet is that little baby looking up at her?
p.s. A very happy Congratulations to one half of the blogging team at Shaadi Fever, Dania, on her engagement and upcoming wedding.  I'm sure your wedding will be as stylish as your blog!
