Anamika Khanna presented her collection at Delhi Couture Week in conjunction with designer Gaurav Gupta. In order to give each collection its due, I'll be splitting this one into two posts, starting with Anamika Khanna's collection. So, this felt very Spanish, matador inspired to me, with the capes draped over one shoulder, high collars, epaulettes, and even a pair of balloon trousers with tight-fitting calves fitted with buttons reminiscent of the taleguilla worn by a bull-fighter. I loved the saree drape favoured by Khanna in this show, pulled up high to reveal dhoti trousers an pulled up onto on shoulder, because it look so comfortable and modern, like something one would wear to a gallery opening, or indeed, the fashion show of a very well-known couturier such as Khanna herself. I loved the last piece a lengha with interlocking leaf patterns in gold resham embroidery in sort of an ombre tone moving down the skirt. Maybe I wouldn't wear it with the accompanying cape, but paired with a statement necklace over a plain black polo, I would rock this any day.
