My Weekend: The Original Wedding Soiree

Monday, April 16, 2012 | |

Happy Monday everyone!  You know those days when you are just shattered from exhaustion, but you feel really good, like you had a productive and fun day?  Well, I definitely had one of those yesterday.  I was invited to The Original Wedding Soiree at One King West by Love, Paper and Ink Stationery.

The theme for the event was Paris in the 1920's, so the choice of One King West, an historic building in Toronto's financial district was approapriate and really set the mood.  Brides were given a red carpet entrance and as I walked in I realized it was actually the train for a very lovely gown, with a bride waiting at the end to greet us!

The first 100 guests received swag bags of products worth over $70, courtesy of theringbearer.ca. I looked in mine when I got home and found a lot of really amazing brands including Schrazkopf Professional, got2be by Scharzkopf, and Schick Quattro, as well as John Freida.

Vendors at the entrance included Wedluxe favourites like Palaterra Custom Correspondences and Mimmo & Co Photography, and further in more vendors, including my friends at Sara Baig Designs, and Love, Paper and Ink Stationery.  I had the opportunity to meet some new GTA vendors who are offering some very innovative services.  I liked the ambiance, lighting, and music services offered by bb Blanc Audiovisual and Entertainment.  They come to your venue (although they have a few preferred vendors including One King West and Mississauga Convention Centre) and set up these screens with either huge ambient images or a musical band.  The whole thing is set to music which is really cool for a cocktail hour if you're having one, or for the dinner hour.  Another idea I liked was a super affordable favour idea from PureThanks. it's basically seed paper in cute shapes mounted on little favour or place cards, which starts at about a dollar a piece and she donates a portion of your cost to a charity of your choice.

I also met Sarah Kirmani of Allure Artistry and Afzia Shareef, Kitcher-Waterloo Area event coordintor at Style and Elegance Wedding and Event Coordination
Afterwards I went up to the fashion show, where the room was set up like a vintage French cafe.  We took our seats and the show began, with a look at some couture gowns from designers including Ines De Santo and Claire Pettibone.  I really enjoyed the show, and wish I could have taken pictures.  I was offered a camera, but was too scared to take it because I don't trust myself with expensive photography equipment at the moment...lol.  So unfortunately, there are no pictures with my post.  I will let you know when other bloggers put up their posts so you can get a visual from the day.  In the meanwhile there are a few pictures up on the facebook page for The Original Wedding Show.

I wish you could have taken pictures, too, because I was the bride at the end of that red carpet ;D
